Dusty

BunChop. Bunna. BunnaBoo. Little Pig. Mr Bunford. Bunfee. FunBun. It all depends on how lovely he is being at the time of utterance. Sometimes you would be forgiven for thinking that his name was just an exasperated sigh. But his given name, the one on his small animal carrier and the name we give the vet is Dusty. Because, well, he looked like a little dusty bun when we first got him. Aw!

Dusty is a run of the mill Bun, he ain't no pedigree, in fact from what we saw at the pet shop he has a very varied blood line. Is it possible that a ginger and white bun can have a black and white brother? He has a pink nose in summer when his coat is thinner but is covered in white fur come the colder weather. He has a white flash on his forehead and a white bib. If he had a passport his identifying feature would be the tiny splash of white he has just round his back that only we really know about. He is a legendary moulter-our whole house and anything black will attest to that! Oh, and how could I overlook the fact that he has big ears. Everyone says so! We thought he might grow into them but it's not looking that way now.

But it isn't just about looks though, is it? Dusty could feature in Disapproving Rabbits without question. Sometimes the look on his face would turn a lesser owner to stone. He likes his own way, and if something is out of place, it can find itself 'realigned'  with a forceful thrust of the snout. When it comes to feeding time, the first rattle of pellets sends him into rapturous circling and the occasional honk. Bunna is a honker. If he wants to get his point across, a well placed honk will do the trick. He also grunts a bit, usually at the sight of toilet rolls or an incursion into his territory from an unwanted foot. You can read more about this in the diary.

Possibly the most important aspect of a Bun's life is his food. Buna is dreadful, a real begging sort of bunny. He can smell banana from several feet away and will make the appropriate doe eyes until he thinks he has won over. He loves broccoli and carrots and green lettuce and apple and A-grade hay. Little prince!
