Day 9. Introducing the great out there.
It was time for Bun Chop to see the other side of his cage, not just from the sofa and our laps but for himself. One of us lined up with cage and laid their legs along the side. The sides are steep-ish so it was thought that the jump would be too great for one small bun. With the top removed Bun was free to sniff the refined and relatively free air. From the top of his house he surveyed the scene, like a general on the eve of battle. He has a somewhat militaristic stance at times. General bunny, sir! From the hill things must have looked good, he set off to the side of the cage and put his nose over the edge.
Tentatively a paw went over and was retracted and this was repeated several times until the second front paw went over and he did that long-bunny stretch that is a bit scary and doubles his size. After some consideration he jumped up onto the legs and then jumped back again. It took a while and some bravery but he finally came out properly onto the legs and had a good sniff about. It was important to let him jump back into his cage when the mood took him. After about ten minutes when he had had enough we put him back. A hurdle crossed. He now knows how to get out.
